British scouts attending the World Scout Jamboree in Saemangeum are being evacuated from the event, the BBC reports.
“The British Scouts are moving more than 4,000 young people to a hotel in 35-degree temperatures,” the BBC reported today (April 4).
The British Scout Association, which is sending the largest number of young people from a single country, issued a statement saying, “We will be moving our delegates to hotels over the next two days, which we hope will help to ease the overcrowding at the venue overall.”
“To ensure our young people can still make the most of their time in South Korea, we will continue with the Jamboree activities in Seoul,” the statement continued, “and the UK Scouts will return home on the 13th as originally planned.”
“The UK volunteer team has ensured that there is enough food and water for the youth and adult volunteers, and has worked very hard with the organizers to ensure that they are protected from the unusually hot weather and have adequate toilet and laundry facilities for an event of this scale.”
The 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree is being held in the Saemangeum area of Buanan County, Jeollabuk-do, with more than 43,000 youth from 158 countries participating.
However, 먹튀검증토토사이트 concerns have been raised about the safety of the youth as the heat wave has led to a number of cases of heat exhaustion and poor camping conditions.
