Imane Khalif, 26, Algeria, has advanced to the final round of the women’s boxing competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after a controversy over her gender.

Khalif won a 5-0 (30-27 30-26 30-27 30-27 30-27 30-27 30-27) unanimous decision over Janjaem Suwannapeng (THA) in the semifinals of the women’s 66-kilogram boxing competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Sunday (July 7) at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris, France.

Khalif used overwhelming power and skill to push his opponent throughout the match, winning the decision by a generous margin.

Khalif, along with Lin Yi-Ting (TAIWAN), was the first athlete to face gender controversy at the Games.

The International Boxing Association (IBA), which is now banned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), disqualified Khalif and Lin last year, claiming that they have “XY chromosomes,” which is generally considered male.

The IOC allowed them to compete at the Paris Olympics, saying there was no evidence that their chromosomes were XY and that they were female.

Khalif, who competed in the controversial event, defeated Angela Carini (ITA) by stoppage in 46 seconds in the round of 16 and won a unanimous decision over Uner Lutzer Hermory (HUN) in the quarterfinals.

With her victory, Khalif will go for gold in the final on Tuesday at 5:51 a.m. 안전한 파워볼사이트
