Goyang Sono snapped a two-game losing streak by defeating Wonju DB, which collapsed on itself after committing a slew of miscues despite suffering from extreme perimeter struggles.

Sono defeated DB 79-64 on Thursday in an away game of the 2024-2025 KCC Pro Basketball regular season at Wonju Gymnasium in Gangwon Province.

DB, last season’s regular-season champions who defeated Seoul Samsung 88-83 in the opening round, have lost all six of their games since, despite being considered the favorite to win the title this season.

DB fired head coach Han Sang-min in an attempt to revitalize the team’s atmosphere, but the team was unable to end the losing streak and 바카라사이트 fell to the bottom of the standings.

SONO, whose mood cooled after a four-game winning streak to open the season, picked up its fifth win of the season and moved into second place behind Daegu KOGAS (5-1).

Both teams struggled in the first half. SONO, dubbed the “three-point team” because they shot almost as many three-pointers as two-pointers last season, shot 14 three-pointers in the first half but failed to make any of them.

But DB couldn’t overpower Sono, who struggled from beyond the arc. They committed 11 turnovers and couldn’t capitalize when they needed to.

Trailing 31-34 at the half, SONO turned the tide at the start of the second half when ace Lee Jung-hyun hit the team’s first three-pointer of the game, followed by a mid-range shot.

After taking over the baton from Lee, former NBA center Alan Williams attacked the basket and scored eight points in less than three minutes to give SONO a 44-36 lead.

Williams’ one-on-one offense against Chinanu Onuaku led to a 10-point lead with 3:34 left in the quarter, as he scored and made the free throw.

It was Yoo who bailed out the DBs, who seemed to be in a deep hole. With eight points in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter, DB cut the deficit to single digits.

However, another mistake in the overtime period put their heads down. With just over six minutes left in the game, Lee Sun Albano’s mistake led to Sono’s fast break score. After Yoo Hyun-joon missed a mid-range shot on the next possession, SONO again attacked quickly, this time with Lee Jae-do hitting a three-pointer to extend the lead back to 10 points.

After DB committed back-to-back mistakes and gave up the offensive possession, SONO scored a series of easy baskets from Lee Jung-hyun and others to break DB’s will to chase.

Sono shot 32 three-pointers, missing 27 of them, but Williams anchored the team from the floor with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Lee Jung-hyun also contributed to the win with 22 points and seven assists despite committing six turnovers under intense pressure from DB’s guards.

DB’s inability to run a steady offense was the downfall of their guards, with Albano, Lee Kwan-hee, and Yoo Hyun-joon all committing four errors apiece. In total, DB committed 21 mistakes on the night.
