The European Golf Union has decided to exclude LIV Golf players from the 2025 Ryder Cup against the United States.

The DP World Tour announced the selection process for the European Union team for next year’s Ryder Cup on Sunday (Aug. 7) and decided not to include LIV Golf’s performance in the tournament as a selection point, according to Reuters.

As a result, Luke Donald (England), the captain of the European team, will have to select six players based on their performance on the DP World Tour and the U.S. Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour, and six through captain’s picks.

Team Europe defeated the United States in the 2023 Ryder Cup, led by Yon Rahm (Spain), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Tyrrell Hatton (England) and Robert McIlroy (Scotland).

Rahm and Hatton, two of the key members of the group, have since moved to LIV Golf, the Saudi Arabian-backed organization that will begin play this year.

The DP World Tour’s decision not to count the results of LIV Golf events means that players like Rahm and Hatton will have no way to qualify for next year’s Ryder Cup, which will be held in New York State from Sept. 26 to 28. 메이저사이트
