San Diego Padres’ Ha-Sung Kim (29) took a day off from playing in the exhibition game.
San Diego lost 1-4 in an exhibition game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona, on Thursday (April 24). Kim did not play in the game after going 1-for-1 with a walk and a strikeout in the previous game.
San Diego, which was playing its second exhibition game away from home, rested all of its starters. Ace Darvish Yu, who is targeted to start the opening two-game series against the Dodgers at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on March 20 and 21, threw 32 pitches in a simulated game on the bullpen instead. “At this point, my goal is to be ready to pitch in Korea,” Darvish said. I’m trying to prepare myself so that I’m ready before the team goes to Korea,” said Darvish.
Unlike San Diego, the Dodgers were able to get their main hitters to play. While the biggest name in the game, Shohei Ohtani, didn’t show up as expected, the Dodgers were able to orchestrate a lineup that included Miguel Rojas, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Max Muncy, Manuel Margot, and Miguel Vargas, all of whom we’ll be seeing in the big leagues this season.
Freeman, the Dodgers’ 2020 National League MVP, was hot at the plate. He started off the game with a home run in his first at-bat. He added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to finish 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Freeman is a home run hitter with a .902 career batting average (7016-for-2114), 321 home runs, 1143 RBI, 1217 runs scored, 89 doubles, and a .902 OPS in 1,885 career major league games. He will lead the Dodgers batting order this season alongside Ohtani and Mookie Betts. Last year, he finished third in MVP voting after batting .333 (211-for-637) with 29 home runs, 102 RBI, 131 runs scored, 23 doubles, and a .976 OPS in 161 games.
The Dodgers jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first inning. Freddie Freeman led off the inning with a solo home run off Yoenis Brito. In the second, Miguel Vargas doubled 토토사이트 and Chris Owings singled to put runners on first and third, and Dalton Rushing drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.
San Diego put runners on second and third in the top of the third when Oscar Mercado walked and Mason McCoy singled. Carl Mitchell followed with an RBI single to center field.
The Dodgers put runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back singles by Jose Ramos and Miguel Rojas. Freeman came up with another big hit, but this time he had to settle for an RBI sacrifice fly to right field.
The Dodgers added one more run in the top of the seventh on a Kevin Padlo walk, a Drew Evans single, a stolen base, and a Chris O’Keefe RBI single. San Diego was unable to get any closer and closed out the game.
