Gangwon FC is once again in search of its first win of the season at home.

Led by head coach Yoon Jeong-hwan, Gangwon will host Daegu FC in the fifth round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 at Songam Sports Town in Chuncheon at 7:30 p.m. on March 3. Gangwon is currently in 10th place in the league with three draws and one loss, but only three points separate them from fourth-place Gwangju FC (6 points). A win in this match could see them jump up the standings significantly. Daegu is in eighth place with one win, one draw, 홀덤사이트 and two losses, and four points.

Despite being winless so far, Gangwon is making a strong impression with its fiery offense. They have 68 shots on goal, the most in the league, and are first in the league in goals-expected at 5.65. In their last match against FC Seoul in the fourth round, they dominated possession with 57.6% of the possession, which is a far cry from last year.

However, their finishing is lacking. They’ve scored just five goals, which is below expectations, and their strikers have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just one goal despite 17 shots and seven on target in Seoul.

Luckily, new signing Lee Sang-heon has stepped up to the plate. He is tied for third in the league with three goals in four games. He’s been so consistent that he’s found the back of the net in all three games except for the third-round match against Daejeon Hana Citizens. His expected points per game is 1.38, which is the highest in the league, but he has scored more than twice as many goals as expected.

On defense, the team welcomes back starting center back Kang Too-ji after missing two games due to disciplinary reasons. Despite his recent absence from the league, the Montenegrin international played full-time against Belarus on Nov. 22 and maintained his match fitness. “I prepared even harder after missing the last two games,” said Kang Tuzi, “I went to the national team during the break and played some matches to stay in shape. Now I’m ready to give 100% for the team again,” he said.

Kangwon, which achieved its first full house since the last round of pay-per-view attendance counting, has also organized an exciting giveaway for the first weekday game of the season. Various prizes such as Sky Bay Hotel accommodation vouchers, Newland All Nature fermented red ginseng, Daewondang gift certificates, Legoland passes, and Sweet Camp glamping passes will be distributed to spectators at halftime.

In addition, various food items such as food trucks, potato island, and Bongpyeong Makgeolli have been prepared in a night market concept. Before the game, fans will receive cosmetics through the ‘Welcome Gangwon with Newland All Nature’ event. The ‘Gangwon FC Workers’ Day’ event offered fans who came in unique work clothes the chance to draw a card at halftime. There are also off-site events such as making your own cheering picket and a Newland All-Nature kicker booth. At the MD Store, fans can purchase special limited-edition tickets for the Daegu match signed by Yang Min-hyuk.
